The Attorney General Alliance annual meetings are taking place in Sun Valley, Idaho, starting Monday and ending Thursday.
According to its website, “The Attorney General Alliance (AGA) began as the Conference of Western Attorneys General (CWAG), a 501c3 nonprofit organization and bipartisan group of 15 western states and three territories. Built on a foundation of fostering collaboration between western AG offices, CWAG has long maintained a focus on issues in the fields of Native American, natural resources, public lands, minerals, and energy law.”
“Together, we are an alliance of Attorneys General, federal, state, and foreign officials, and public and private sector partners throughout the world who come together to address complex issues in law and policy,” it adds.
The opening day agenda includes a dinner and remarks by Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden. There’s also a hospitality event reserved for attendees that are 21 years of age and older.
The second day of events on Tuesday includes remarks by Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser. There’s also a discussion roundtable called “The Ginsburg-Scalia Initiative.” It is described as follows: “As CWAG/AGA Chair, Attorney General Weiser’s initiative, appropriately named The Ginsburg/Scalia Initiative, highlighted how leaders can address the rising levels of tribalism, or political sectarianism, by following the lead of Justices Ginsburg and Scalia. This panel will highlight the successes of the year and continue to focus on how we might work towards a more perfect union through listening, dialogue, and collaborative problem solving.”
Other events that day are titled, “Algorithms in Banking & Finance,” “Memoriam of North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem,” “Social Justice & Economic Empowerment Session,” “Regulatory Challenges and Opportunities in Cryptocurrency and Data Privacy,” “Critical Infrastructure: Evolving Cybersecurity Threats and Changing Roles of Attorneys General,” and “The Modern Public Square: Privacy & Artificial Intelligence.”

The final day’s events on Thursday include a “Cannabis Update.”
The event description says, “Professionals from the Cannabis bar will provide Attorneys General an update of the law in this ever-evolving area. Panelists will discuss progress in legalization efforts at the state level, some of the new policy debates getting attention – such as social equity movements, cannabis lounges and Delta-8 THC – and the status of changes to federal law that could impact the industry.”
There’s a hospitality event each night of the annual gathering, with the exception of the last day, as it adjourns at noon.
The Attorney General Alliance is among several such groups of the states’ top law enforcers, including the National Association of Attorneys General, the Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) and the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA).
